Jean’s Flower Spirit paintings found their origin in her deeper studies with the fundamental elements of nature. Imagery began to appear to her in dreams. Radiant and animated, the plants presented themselves to Jean in their deeper essence. Aware that she could never completely capture the inner being of the plants with paper and paint, these paintings are Jean’s best attempt to share her visions.
The Flower Spirit paintings were created with the hope of extending to everyone a keener appreciation of the inter-connectivity of all life in our world. Presented here is the contemplative idea that we are part of a great web of energy that animates all beings. Through the workings of this great life force, we not only exist, but possess an indissoluble link to the Divine.
The Wild Columbine flashes an array of color against the rocky slopes of high mountain meadows. This plant is ruled by the air elementals. Perhaps you can feel its floating quality, almost as if it is suspended in space. Emerging from the plant is the Milbert’s Tortoiseshell, a butterfly that makes its home in mountain meadows as well. The larvae, or caterpillar stage, remain in clusters until fully grown and ready to form the pupa.
