Pond Lily and Leopard Frog
The pond lily is widespread and is found in marshes, shallow lakes, and slow moving streams. The Pond Lily is also known as the Yellow Water Lily. Its rhizomes have been used as food, though it is extremely bitter in its unprocessed state. It also has been used medicinally to treat aching joints and broken bones. The rhizome is peeled, sliced and air dried. Then it is stored for later re-hydration and use in a poultice.
The Leopard Frog is a cohabitant in the same watery places as the water lily. The frog is a symbol used in many water rituals in different Native American traditions. Its lesson relates to cleansing and purification. To see frogs and water lilies is to know that summer is upon us. Playing this hand painted Nature Spirit drum may help you to connect with the healing energies of water.
