Argentium Manifestum: Manifesting Silver (Jack-in-the-Pulpit)

The Jack-in-the-Pulpit comes to us from the deeper, most mysterious side of nature. This plant has qualities of both the water elemental and the earth elemental, and it resides in shady nooks of quiet back waters. It is elusive, and for the most part, retains its watery nature. Native Americans know this plant as pepper turnip, because the root has a stinging quality if eaten raw. Once cooked, however, it is tamed.

In the painting, the Common Water Snake, a snake that inhabits the same swamp-like territories as the plant, manifests earth energy as it weaves its dance with the watery pulpit.
