Jean’s Flower Spirit paintings found their origin in her deeper studies with the fundamental elements of nature. Imagery began to appear to her in dreams. Radiant and animated, the plants presented their deeper essence to Jean. Aware that she could never completely capture the inner being of the plants with paper and paint, these paintings are Jean’s best attempt to share her visions.
The Flower Spirit paintings were created with the hope of extending to everyone a keener appreciation of the inter-connectivity of all life in our world. Presented here is the contemplative idea that we are part of a great web of energy that animates all beings. Through the workings of this great life force, we not only exist, but possess an indissoluble link to the Divine.
The true wild geranium is not at all related to our domestic garden geraniums. It was highly prized as an herb by Native Americans and early settlers. The word geranium is the Greek word for crane. The plant was named by the Greeks, who noticed the distinctive, crane-like shape of the mature capsules which carry the plant’s seeds.
