Hopi Smoke and Collared Lizard

Hopi Smoke and Collared Lizard

This small hand painted Native American drum has a Southwest theme. The plant, Green Puccoon, is also known as Hopi Smoke. It does not have any known medicinal properties and cannot be eaten. The Hopi, however, mix this plant with wild tobacco for use in rainmaking ceremonies.

The Collared Lizard is a well known resident of the Southwest. These creatures inhabit a wide range of habitats including forests, semi-arid and arid regions. They prefer rocky locations with many hiding places such as crevices. They are exceptionally fast runners, a skill which helps them catch their insect prey. It has been said that lizards teach us to pay attention to our dreams and the symbols which appear in them.
