Frilled Lizard and Eucalyptus

Frilled Lizard and Eucalyptus

The Frilled Lizard is native to Australia. It is known for its elaborate dancing ritual which it performs during mating and to ward off enemies. It raises its body, stands on its hind legs, and extends its enormous frill. Then it hisses loudly through its open mouth. In lore, lizards represent the power of dreaming.

The perfect plant for this drum seems to be the eucalyptus, which is so well known in Australian habitat. This lizard is dancing among the Eucalyptus. Reaching heights of 250 feet, this plant is one of the largest in the world. These trees, with their vast root systems, have actually drained entire swamps. The aromatic oils of this plant are used medicinally and have antiseptic properties.

Represented here is wonderful Nature Spirit magic, expressed by these two spirits in a hand painted drum.
